Program itinerary

Welcome at the airport by your local English-speaking guide.

Private transfer to your hotel in San José, the country’s capital.

Costa Rica’s capital, San José, is located in the Central Valley. It’s a vast plain guarded by majestic volcanoes and verdant hills, confirming the natural wealth that exists throughout the country.

Founded in the first half of the 18th century, San José is today a city where visitors from all over the world converge, a city full of places of interest, faces and colors that reflect the history of a people.

Its architecture is as varied as the people who walk its streets. In the northern part of the city, you’ll find the finest examples of turn-of-the-century urban planning. Many of the houses and buildings are European-inspired, but built with a deep sense of Costa Rican style.

After your arrival, you can settle in and relax.

After breakfast, it’s time for our next adventure, Sarapiquí!

Car pick-up and departure for Sarapiquí

Sarapiquí is a verdant and splendid region, famous for its “turnos” or open-air festivals that include fairs, rodeos and livestock shows. Sarapiqui is a predominantly agricultural area of the country and a major banana-producing region of Costa Rica. Coffee, cardamom, cocoa, corn and other fruits are also grown here. The land in Sarapiquí is very fertile, mainly because the Sarapiquí River flows through the region and irrigates the whole area. The climate is mild and moderate all year round.

Your Tirimbina hotel is located in a nature reserve and offers a variety of activities.

You can also take the opportunity to go hiking and observe the ever-present fauna: monkeys, hummingbirds and other mammals, not to mention the flora.

The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the area and the hotel trails.

After breakfast at the hotel, we head north to the Fortuna region.

Discovery of the Fortuna region and its famous Arenal Volcano. After the tragic 1968 eruption of the Arenal volcano, which destroyed three of the region’s main villages, La Fortuna was created as the main economic center of the Arenal Volcano region. We’ll make a stop on the way for a fruit and ice cream tasting from the Iguanas viewpoint before arriving in La Fortuna for lunch at the La Perla Rustica restaurant.

La Fortuna is the main entry point to the Arenal region. On a clear day, the majestic Arenal volcano dominates the skyline of this peaceful town. In La Fortuna you’ll find services such as banks and ATMs, clinics, pharmacies, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, bars, souvenir stores and more. There are many tourist information centers, and the central park is a pleasant place to stroll and discover local life.

En route we’ll visit the organic eco-farm, La Selva: This is a family farm, whose aim is to save all the knowledge of the grandparents in terms of cultivating the land; that’s why you can learn how the animals help the farm’s soils, what we call an organic factory. Here, you can observe the farm, the fruit trees, a tour through micro plantations such as sugar cane, heart of palm, yucca, pineapple, papaya, heart of palm, the artisanal process of coffee, cocoa and pepper, vegetables, orchids, trapiche, the artisanal liquor factory, ending with a breathtaking view of the Sarapiqui River, with a delicious typical lunch.

Before settling into your hotel, we invite you to visit a coffee farm called North Fields Coffee for a tour of the plantations and a coffee tasting.
